OPERATION

Balloon-therapy
Putting balloon in the stomach lasts about 15-30 min and is carried out with anaesthetic. Doctor puts soft, smooth small balloon in the stomach through esophagus. Then he fulfills it with isotonic salt solution and after a few hours patient can come back home.

Complications occur very rarely, and they are:

  • valve leak*
  • harsh kidney incapacity and haemorrhage into alimentary canal (result of vomiting, especially when patient doesn’t obey advised diet)
  • balloon intolerance (it can be removed every time)
  • hook jam

* isotonic salt which fulfills the balloon contains a dye, which is natural. Appearance of the blue colour in urine is a proof of balloon leak; the moment it breaks is not recognized by a patient. In such a case you should contact your doctor immediately; then balloon is to be changed for a new one.
