1.How many kg am I able to loose thanks to gastric balloon?
On average, patient looses over 20% of body mass. Final effect is depended on the height of BMI, and the higher it is, the more weight the patient looses. Very important is also the strength of one’s own will. After 6 months of the therapy patient has to fight with his weaknesses on his own.

2.What kind of postoperative complications are most frequent?
Guaranteed compilation is 2-3 day adaptation of the balloon in the stomach, such as vomiting, nausea or diarrhoea. Before the operation there are a lot of analyses conducted on the patient in order to eliminate the risk of the compilations. Rare cases occur when the balloon is not tolerated or when it is broken. Then it is removed. If it is only damaged, we install a new one.

3.What happens if the balloon pops, e.g. after return to England?
MTA Poland cooperates wits clinics in UK, therefore you will receive contact to our partners that you have to visit in order to have a control check up, also in the case of balloon break.

4.When can I come back to the former activity and will I have to resign form a swimming pool or fly journey?
After the operation a patient is allowed to take in only liquids, so the person is a little weak. After about 5 days a patient can normally return to former activities. There has not been situation that the balloon popped because of the excessive moving or pressure difference.

5.What are the stages I have to go through from the moment of the decision to implement a balloon with MTA Poland?

• contact with MTA Poland, making medical interview
• arrival to Poland, meeting with surgeon, details of the operation, establishment of individual diet, exercises, indications
• One day before the operation you ale not allowed to eat and 3 hours before the operation you are not allowed to drink
• Operation - implementing a balloon,
• Return to hotel, rest
• Return to England, meeting doctor after 3 months, consultation
• Taking the balloon out of the stomach, come back to Poland in order to do this
• Being happy with your new silhouette and new life!

 

6.Can I use the balloon for more than 6 months?
If there are no contraindications, after 6 months the old balloon is replaced with a new one.

7.Will I have yoyo effect after removing the balloon?
After the implementation patient is forced for 6 months to lead healthy lifestyle. Certainly, it will be a temptation for a patient to come back to the normal style of living, but our body will get used to a new diet and activity. Patients will also be advised how to cheat hunger, which is individual for each of them. Strong will is also crucial. Just to remember, out patients lost over 20% of initial mass; is even the most delicious meal worth loosing this spectacular effect?
