Environmental factors

This category concentrates itself on bad eating habits, cultivated by the obese persons. Also lack of activities, sitting job, paying no attention to type of prepared meals and its quality belong to this category. People from the developing countries have a better access to fast foods, caloric snacks and they are so busy (e.g. by sitting at the computer), that they don’t have time to prepare healthy meals. This thoughtlessness leads to “distending” stomach and excessive hunger attacks. Alarming fact is that the number of obese children is still growing. But the blame should be put on parents, who are not able to refuse them a doughnut or XXL-sized share of chips.

It often occurs that obesity of a person is influenced not by one factor only, but by more of them rather. Unfortunately, again women have a higher chance of weight growth! During the puberty time girls gain weight more often than boys of the same age; that is a result of hormonal storm in their bodies. Statistics show that 40% of women who gave birth to a child, gain weight significantly and have problems with regaining the former silhouette. What is more, elder ladies are prone to overweight because of the hormonal changes in their bodies caused by menopause and react often with increased appetite because of the changes in their lives, such as retirement or visible signs of elder age.

Everyone who once had problems with excessive kilograms knows what BMI index is. Just to remember we add that the correct weight is a balance of activity and energy from eaten food. In order to estimate it, you have to calculate your body mass index, known as BMI (Body Mass Index). There is a special formula used to do this:

BMI = Body mass in kg / (height in meters)2

If your result is between 18.5-25, congratulations, your weight is correct!
Below 18 - underweight
25.0-29.9 - overweight
30.0-34.9 - 1st stage of obesity
35.0-39.9 - 2nd stage of obesity
over 40.0 - 3rd stage of obesity (pathological obesity)

The aforementioned rate provides just an overall information on your body condition; remember that each body is different and should be treated individually resulting in different methods of diet.
